The building at Miera Street 5 is a rationalistic Art Nouveau building built in 1912 by architect Alexander Schmeling, designed together with Edgar Hartman and Victor Unferhaus. The project is located in one of the most popular neighbourhoods in Riga, which is considered one of the most creative urban areas in the world. The 6-story high building is located on the corner of Miera and Maiznīca streets and consists of 29 apartments and commercial premises on the ground floor.
Currently, renovation works are carried out in the whole building, including renewing of the building’s facade from both street and courtyard sides. Two staircases of the building will be restored in a more contemporary style and lighter colour scheme, yet preserving the historic aura. The renovation works include reinstalling the elevator as well as improving the courtyard with greenery and a new children playground.
The property will be divided into separate apartment properties with a respective deemed share of land. Authentic elements such as wooden floors, old wooden doors and ceiling rosettes are preserved in the apartments. The ceiling height in all apartments is 3,10 m. Storage rooms in the basement will be available for purchase.
Location:
The building is situated in the part of the historic centre of Riga, while Miera Street itself is included in the World Heritage list of UNESCO.
